Mrs. Peters’ Live Math Classes for Homeschoolers

As a homeschool mom of eight, I've long been a fan of resources that allow me to outsource learning and teaching without having to leave the home. And I'm excited to share with you a brand new math option my son Henry and I had the opportunity to explore.

Mrs. Peters' Live Online Math Classes

Mrs. Peters' Live Online Math Classes offer three hours of live instruction weekly for students in middle school and high school. We had a chance to be a part of several live Pre-Algebra classes and Henry was in his element.

Henry is a very social guy and so he had no hesitation about popping into a group of students and interacting via the chat. We were really impressed with the way Mrs. Peters ran the live sessions and engaged with the students.

(To respect student privacy, I didn't take any screenshots during the live classes we attended, but this is a sample Mrs. Peters provided that give a good glimpse into the live class environment!)

As someone who has taught live homeschool classes online, I know it can be tricky to get students to participate when they are on the other side of a screen. Mrs. Peters had helpful short-hand strategies for kids to quickly let her know if they were working on a problem, got the right answer, or got close with a one-letter response in the chat.

Math Curriculum Included

Another major perk to registering for Mrs. Peters' Live Homeschool Math Classes is that there's no need to purchase additional curriculum. All of the learning and practice resources you will need are included inside the course.

Henry especially enjoyed the unique practice activities. In one activity, by answering math problems within a spreadsheet, he gradually revealed a mystery picture.

In another activity, answering one question correctly would reveal a pathway through a maze to the next question. Only answering them in the correct order would complete the assignment!

Henry and I had never seen anything like this and we were fascinated with how these activities unfolded as he worked the math problems!

Lessons also included lots of additional resources for help like links to relevant YouTube videos, online games, and the digital textbook pages related to that math topic.

Grading and Math Help Included

Of course, as a homeschool mom, it's a huge blessing to find a math program where the teacher not only grades students' work but is also available to answer questions.

Of course, with live math classes we expected that students would be able to ask questions during class. But students can also message Mrs. Peters if they have any trouble with their math assignments. The live sessions we attended were recorded so that Henry could go back later to review them if he needed a reminder about any math skills that were covered.

Students have ten days to complete and turn in assignments digitally. During the classes we attended, Mrs. Peters reminded students about upcoming due dates and her availability to help and answer questions.
